About Amrith
Amrith is a visual artist from the picturesque hill town of Valparai in India.
His works present a psychological portrait of society. Through a blend of figurative and abstract styles, he represents the hidden reality that lies within each of us, the truths we often cannot express. Depression, anxiety, frustration, and other emotional states form a central part of his visual language. His work seeks to make visible what is usually imperceptible to the eye: the emotions, conflicts, and difficult moments that are essential to our evolution and learning.
“We need to fall in order to gain momentum to rise again. Why would we hide something so extraordinarily catastrophic?”
His art is characterized by the combined use of charcoal, acrylic paint, and markers. Through these materials, he reveals states of mind such as melancholy, desire, confusion, and resilience. Each portrait becomes both a mirror and a mask, reflecting the silent struggles that shape human experience. He defines his portraits as psychological works that go beyond physical appearance, exposing the constant pressure of a restless mind. By altering anatomy and distorting reality, he draws attention to the viewer’s inner world.
Amrith currently lives in Berlin, where he continues to produce new work in his home studio.
